Hyderabad: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Telangana, has announced an extension for the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) entrance examination applications.

Prospective candidates now have until April 15 to submit their forms for the academic term starting in January 2027. The entrance examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 7, exclusively in Hyderabad for candidates from Telangana.
What is the RIMC entrance exam?
The RIMC entrance exam is a national-level selection process for admission into the Rashtriya Indian Military College in Dehradun.
Operating under the Ministry of Defence, RIMC serves as a premier institution for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Indian Naval Academy.
The institution provides a semi-military environment where students receive a CBSE-based education from Class VIII to XII, alongside rigorous physical training and leadership grooming designed to produce future officers for the Indian Armed Forces.
Eligibility and age criteria
Educational Qualification: Candidates (both boys and girls) must either be studying in Class VII or have passed Class VII from a recognised school at the time of admission on January 1, 2027.
Age Limit: Applicants must be between 11.5 and 13 years of age. For the upcoming term, candidates must have been born between January 2, 2014, and July 1, 2015.
Exam pattern and career trajectory
The written examination held on June 7 will consist of three mandatory papers:
1. Mathematics: 09:30 am – 11:00 am (200 Marks)
2. General Knowledge: 12:00 pm – 01:00 pm (75 Marks)
3. English: 02:30 pm – 04:30 pm (125 Marks)
Candidates must secure at least 50 per cent marks in each subject to qualify for the next stages, which include a Viva-Voce (Interview) and a comprehensive Medical Examination.
Successful candidates who graduate from RIMC typically move on to the National Defence Academy.
