Sridhar Babu: Skill training centres will be set up in every district headquarters
Hyderabad: Aiming for a major push toward empowering youth through skill development, Telangana minister for IT and Industries D Sridhar Babu announced that skills training centres will be established in every district headquarters.
This initiative is part of the State government’s vision to transform Telangana into a hub of skilled talent, in collaboration with Young India Skills University.
Aiming for meaningful employment
The minister made the announcement during a site visit to the university’s upcoming permanent campus in Meerkhanpet, Kandukur Mandal, Ranga Reddy district, on Tuesday. Following the inspection, he chaired a review meeting with contractors and department officials, urging them to expedite work and ensure the project is completed on time.
Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted that the Young India Skills University is being developed to international standards, aiming to bridge the gap between education and industry. The goal is to create meaningful employment opportunities for the youth of Telangana, whom he described as ‘immensely capable and full of potential.’
Modern infrastructure in the first phase of development
He stated that under chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the government is working on a dual mission: fostering industrial growth and expanding youth employment opportunities. The university’s first phase will include academic blocks, laboratories, hostels, and administrative offices, with the formal inauguration scheduled for December 9.
The university is currently offering in-demand courses in Pharma, Retail, Logistics and Aviation and Airport Management, in collaboration with leading industry partners. Impressively, 70–80 per cent of students from these programs are already securing jobs.
‘State government committed to long-term goals’
Reflecting on the government’s employment efforts, Sridhar Babu proudly noted that 57,000 government jobs have been filled in just one year. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to fulfil every electoral promise made to the people.
