Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday said the state government spends Rs 1,08,000 on each student annually.
Attending an event at a private school, CM Revanth compared the state government's expenditure with that of private institutions.

The Chief Minister noted that while some private schools charge monthly fees ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, the state government currently allocates approximately Rs 1,08,000 per student annually.
He observed that despite this expenditure, students in government schools often struggle to meet basic learning benchmarks, citing instances where a sixth-grade student faces difficulty reading a third-grade textbook.

Plans for public education
The Chief Minister stated that he intends to hold discussions with people's representatives and teachers to evaluate the current state of government schools. He emphasized that the government is focusing on accountability to ensure that the allocated funds lead to better academic outcomes.
Introduction of pre-primary classes
Addressing the future of state education, the Chief Minister confirmed the government's decision to introduce nursery, LKG, and UKG classes in government schools starting from the 2026-2027 academic year.
This initiative aims to provide foundational education within the public school system, intended to help students from all backgrounds access early learning opportunities.
