Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) to immediately issue hall tickets to students who were denied entry into the ongoing Intermediate Public Examinations–2026 due to a technical glitch in fee remittance.
Justice E.V. Venugopal, hearing a batch of writ petitions filed by aggrieved students, held that they could not be deprived of their right to appear for examinations for no fault of theirs, especially when they had already paid the prescribed fees to their respective colleges.
Technical glitch in fee transmission
According to submissions before the court, the affected students had duly remitted their examination fees to their institutions.
However, due to a technical glitch in the online fee remittance system between the colleges and the Intermediate Board, the amounts were not transmitted to the Board.
As a result, the Board withheld the issuance of hall tickets, effectively preventing the students from appearing for the examinations.
Students not at fault: Court
Counsel for the petitioners argued that the students had fulfilled their obligations and should not suffer consequences arising from administrative or technical lapses on the part of their institutions.
Agreeing with the contention, Justice Venugopal observed that errors committed by colleges cannot be a ground to deny students the opportunity to sit for their examinations.
Special practicals to be conducted
Taking note of the fact that the students had also missed their practical examinations due to the same issue, the court directed the Intermediate Board to conduct special practical examinations for the affected candidates at a later date.
The matter has been posted to March 26, 2026, for further hearing.
