Telangana launches 65 Advanced Technology Centers to empower youth with skills & jobs

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revant Reddy has called upon the state’s youth to utilize government-provided opportunities to secure their future.

Speaking at the launch of Advanced Technology Centers (ATCs) at Mallepally ITI, he emphasized skill development, planning, and perseverance, and announced a dedicated government department to facilitate employment, including international job opportunities.

65 ATCs virtually inaugurated across Telangana

The Chief Minister inaugurated 65 ATCs across the state via virtual connection. These centers are upgraded from existing ITIs into advanced, technology-driven institutes to provide modern vocational training.

Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, along with other public representatives, inspected the newly developed Mallepally ATC.

Monthly stipends and career support for students

Addressing students, the Chief Minister announced a monthly stipend of Rs 2,000 for every ATC student starting from the next academic year. “This is not an expense; it is an investment in your future. Hard work and determination are key to success,” he said.

He further stated that the government would create a dedicated department to assist students with employment services, passports, and other career-related support.

Youth to contribute to Telangana’s Growth

The Chief Minister urged students to actively participate in Telangana’s development. “By 2047, Telangana aims to become a $3 trillion economy. Your technical skills and dedication will be vital to achieving this vision,” he said. The government’s focus is on providing modern technical training to prepare youth for emerging industries.

Modernizing ITIs with State-of-the-Art Technology

Since 1956, Telangana’s ITI network has expanded to 65 centers. However, previous governments did not modernize these institutes, which continued with outdated systems.

Last year, the government initiated a comprehensive plan to transform ITIs into ATCs equipped with cutting-edge technology. The project was implemented in partnership with Tata Technologies, with the government investing Rs 300 crore and Tata Technologies contributing Rs 2,100 crore.

The Chief Minister emphasized that vision and determination matter more than money in achieving success.

Expanding Skill Centers and Opportunities

The state plans to launch 51 additional ATCs in the next academic year, bringing the total to 116 centers. These institutes will focus on providing employment-oriented skills, including apprenticeship programs.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar highlighted plans to offer practical training to students, continuing the tradition of ITI apprenticeship programs.

Bridging the skills gap

Although over 1.1 lakh engineering students graduate annually in Telangana, many remain unemployed due to lack of practical skills. “Degrees alone are not enough; skills are essential. ATCs will focus on providing skills that enable students to secure jobs in India and abroad, including countries like South Korea, Germany, Japan, and Russia,” the Chief Minister said.

He stressed that education and technical skills bring social respect and shape the future. “The government provides opportunities and infrastructure, but success depends on your effort and dedication,” he added.

The event was attended by MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Dr. Mallu Ravi, MLCs, MLAs, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, senior officials, Tata Technologies representatives, and ATC students.

Local students and public representatives joined via video conferencing, and Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkat Swamy addressed the program virtually from abroad.
