Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has unveiled a comprehensive policy focused on enhancing the infrastructure and quality of education in government schools.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed the secretary to the Education Department, Burra Venkatesham, to develop detailed plans to strengthen the schools within three years.
The new policy includes the establishment of semi-residential and integrated residential schools, early childhood education in Anganwadi centres and improved teacher recruitment and transportation facilities.
Focus on semi-residential and integrated residential schools
The chief minister has instructed officials to draft proposals for establishing semi-residential schools alongside integrated residential schools. āThe focus should be on creating environments conducive to holistic learning,ā CM Revanth emphasised.
The State plans to establish semi-residential schools offering education up to Class 4. These schools will be equipped with transport facilities for students. āWe must ensure that no child is left behind due to a lack of access to education,ā CM Reddy said.
The CM has asked the Education Department to create proposals for providing education up to Class 3 in Anganwadi centres, modelled after play schools. āArrangements should be made to provide educational facilities to all students in their native villages,ā he stated.
Additional teacher recruitment
To support this initiative, the chief minister suggested recruiting an additional teacher in each Anganwadi centre. āThis will ensure that young children receive adequate attention and quality education,ā he added.
Officials have been tasked with consulting educational experts to prepare a pilot project for implementation in one or two mandals. āGathering insights from experts will help us design a robust and effective education system,ā remarked secretary Burra Venkatesham.
Utilising CSR funds
The CM highlighted the need to utilise Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, in addition to government allocations, to improve facilities for students in government schools. āTake all necessary measures to provide quality education to the students,ā he urged.
This comprehensive plan aims to strengthen the foundation of the education system in government schools, ensuring that all children have access to quality education in their localities.
