UoH denies permission for Jai Bhim screening, interaction with Justice Chandru

Hyderabad, December 18: The University of Hyderabad administration on 18th December denied permission for screening of the movie Jai Bhim and the post-screening interaction with Justice Chandru. As a result, the venue of the screening was shifted to the main gate of the university.

Reportedly, the university cited Covid protocols as the reason for the denial of permission.

Commenting on the incident, Abhishek Nandan, Students Union President said, "University has denied space stating Covid protocol while it has given permission for private run marathons. But we have managed to organise the movie screening and discussion with Retd. Justice Chandru."

Commending the movie, the Students Union of UoH wrote on Facebook, "The HCU administration has time and again tried to stop progressive programmes from happening on campus. The same admin who is now denying permission for the screening of such a socially relevant movie by Students Union and are preventing interaction with an iconic figure like Retd. Justice Chandru, citing Covid protocols, has shamelessly given permission for outside private players to conduct events like Marathons on campus without adhering to any Covid norms. This shows that the admin's concern is not Covid but the political awakening of the campus."
