Hyderabad: The US Consul General in Hyderabad, Jennifer Larson, reminded students to file for their student visas early, while speaking on the occasion of Student Visa Day. With a video message on Twitter, Larson reminded students to start the visa application process as early as possible to ensure a smooth transition to the United States.

Addressing the vibrant student community, Larson said, “Today is Student Visa Day. No matter which university or college you’ve chosen for your studies in the United States, you are going to have an amazing time.” Larson further ensured that student visas will remain a priority throughout June, July, and August.


Highlighting the diversity of educational institutions across the United States, Larson showcased her alma mater while encouraging prospective students, she asked, “It is student visa season! As we observe Student Visa Day, we are showcasing the diversity of universities in the US. I attended the University of California, Berkeley. Which university are you going to?”

Larson concluded her video message with warm wishes for all aspiring students, saying, “We wish you all the best. Good luck and have fun.”

As Student Visa Day gains recognition, the US Consulate in Hyderabad and other diplomatic missions across the United States continue to work diligently to facilitate the smooth issuance of student visas. These efforts aim to foster international exchange, promote cultural diversity, and strengthen educational ties between the United States and students from around the world.

During his recent visit to Hyderabad, US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, addressed the media at THub. He applauded the growing number of Indian students pursuing education in the United States. Ambassador Garcetti praised the strong academic ties between the two countries and emphasised the significance of educational exchanges in fostering mutual understanding and cultural connections.

“India has almost 2,00,000 students in the United States, and last year, it was the number one source of students from abroad to come to America,” said Ambassador Garcetti.

Recognising the importance of visas for students aspiring to study in the United States, Ambassador Garcetti said, “Efforts have been made to streamline visa processing and reduce wait times, with the goal of processing over 1 million visa applications this year.”

To meet the growing demand for visa services, Ambassador Garcetti announced plans to double the number of consular officers in Hyderabad for the easy process of visa applications. He said, “The objective is to facilitate travel, strengthen bilateral ties, and promote the interests of both the United States and India.”
