Visakhapatnam: IT major Cognizant Technologies is set to foray into Visakhapatnam.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to inaugurate its temporary campus on December 12. On the same day, he will also lay the foundation stone for the company’s permanent facility
After returning to power, the NDA government has been actively working to attract major IT investments to Andhra Pradesh. As part of these efforts, 22.19 acres at Kapuluppada IT Hills have been allotted to Cognizant on lease.
The estimated investment for the campus is around ₹1,600 crore, and at least 8,000-10,000 jobs, especially AI-related ones, are likely to be generated by the company by 2029.
Until the permanent facility is ready, the company will operate from a plug-and-play space in the Madhurawada IT Zone. The temporary campus, with a seating capacity of 800, will commence operations on December 12.
The economic activity generated from Cognizant’s investment and operations in the region is estimated to be around ₹15,000 crore.
Currently, around 150 IT companies are operating in Madhurawada IT Hills and other parts of Visakhapatnam.
What are the new companies to come up?
