20 years of Nuvve Nuvve: Heres why this film is close to everyones heart

Hyderabad: "Amma…Avakai…Anjali…Eee moodu eppudu bore kottav"—If you are a 90s kid, this dialogue needs no introduction. This dialogue is from 'Nuvve Nuvve', a film that released in 2002 and stars Tarun and Shriya Saran in lead roles. Today marks 20 years since the release of this film which garnered amazing collections at the box office.

'Nuvve Nuvve' is Trivikram Srinivas's first film as director. Before his directorial debut, he was a writer and had worked for many films. While producers were not ready to take a risk by investing in Trivikram's idea, it was producer Ravi Kishore of Sravanthi Movies who went a step ahead and told Trivikram he was ready to produce his film. That is how 'Nuvve Nuvve' went on the floors.

To mark 20 years of the film, the makers organised a special screening on 10 October. It was attended by Tarun, Shriya, Prakash Raj, Trivikram Srinivas, Sunil, and others.

Trivikram's debut

Trivikram is now one of the most sought-after directors of the Telugu film industry. He is called the "Wizard of Words" and he needs no introduction. However, back in those days, nobody was ready to believe in him and his ideas.

But now, producers line up outside his office to make films with him. In the last 20 years, Trivikram has come a long way and proved his mettle. He is a brand now. He is one of the top three directors of the industry and is a close aide to Pawan Kalyan.

Tarun goes down memory lane

'Nuvve Nuvve' was a blockbuster hit for Tarun. That was the time when he was doing well in the industry but needed a break to bag some more films. Trivikram's 'Nuvve Nuvve' gave him the much-needed break.

It has been a long time since Tarun was seen on the big screen. Going down memory lane, talking on this special day, said, "I am super happy that Nuvve Nuvve, directed by Trivikram, turned 20 today. It's a special film in my career and I congratulate the entire team for it. Films made by Sravanthi Movies have a unique vibe besides offering entertainment. The songs in their films are equally special—Nuvve Nuvve, Nuvve Kaavali, and Ela Cheppanu were great albums," Tarun said.

"I made my debut with Nuvve Kavali, for which Trivikram was a writer. It is extremely special that I was the hero in his first film as a director. Songs in Trivikram's films after Nuvve Nuvve too are a treat for music buffs. Shriya is a very friendly and jovial person on the sets and I've done three films with her—'Nuvve Nuvve', 'Ela Cheppanu', and 'Nee Manasu Naaku Telusu'," he added.

A new trend in comedy

'Nuvve Nuvve' is a film that talks about reality. This is something we can all connect and relate to. Rishi's middle-class financial crisis, Anjali's innocence and money, Viswananth's ego and love for his daughter, a true friend like Sunil, the college life of the lead actors, and a lot of situations are something which most of us come across in our life. Trivikram is known for writing amazing humorous dialogues and scenes. This film doesn't fall short of any.
