`A visual spectacle’: Felicity Theatre to stage `Humare Ram’ in Hyderabad’s Shilpakala Vedika on Aug 30, 31

Hyderabad: Felicity Theatre, one of India’s leading theatre companies, will stage the acclaimed play `Humare Ram’ at Shilpakala Vedika here on August 30 and 31.

The play, directed by filmmaker Gaurav Bhardwaj, presents lesser-known episodes from the Ramayana, combining theatre, music, and visual spectacle.

A Stellar Ensemble Cast

The production features a cast of well-known actors:

• Ashutosh Rana as Ravan

• Rahull R Bhuchar as Lord Ram

• Harleen Kaur Rekhi as Sita

• Danish Akhtar as Hanuman

• Tarun Khanna as Lord Shiva

• Karan Sharma as Surya Deva

They will be joined by over 50 dancers and supporting theatre artists.

Producer and actor Rahull R Bhuchar said, “Humare Ram is meticulously crafted to bring a fresh perspective to the Ramayana narrative, which will appeal to the younger generation.”

Music by Leading Playback Singers

The play’s music has been composed specifically for the production, with vocals by celebrated playback singers Kailash Kher, Shankar Mahadevan, and Sonu Nigam. Their original tracks form the musical backbone of the performance, enhancing its devotional and dramatic impact.

Exploring Untold Chapters of the Ramayana

What sets Humare Ram apart is its narrative approach. The story begins with Luv and Kush questioning Lord Ram about their mother Sita, leading to revelations about episodes rarely staged in conventional retellings. The perspective of Surya Deva provides another narrative lens, guiding audiences through Ram and Sita’s journey of love, trials, and triumphs.

Director Gaurav Bhardwaj explained, “The play is not a repetition of familiar episodes but an exploration of Ramayana through new angles, with theatrical techniques and technology amplifying its impact.”

Stage Design and Special Effects

The production incorporates LED backdrops, VFX sequences, aerial acts, choreography, and elaborate costumes to recreate epic landscapes and battles. The combination of traditional theatre and modern technology aims to create an immersive experience for audiences.
