Adipurush is all set to make Rs 80 crore on opening day.

Finally, the big day is here! Adipurush is releasing tomorrow and fans of Prabhas across the country are super excited to watch him on the big screen after more than a year. Directed by Om Raut, the film has Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh and others in key roles.

The advance bookings opened a couple of days ago and more than 80% of the shows are houseful already.

Talking about the number of bookings, Gautam Dutta, PVR INOX Limited co-CEO, said they have already crossed “over 3 lakh bookings for the first weekend”. Dutta said the star power of Baahubali hero Prabhas and the topicality of the film give it “a rare advantage” and “strong legs to move”.

“It’s going to be one of the biggest films this quarter. The leading languages in this film would be Telugu and Hindi, followed by other languages, and Prabhas being a popular star down south coupled with the entire north belt should give the film a colossal opening,” Dutta told.

Increase in ticket price

The Government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has permitted the makers to increase the price of the ticket by Rs 50. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana government has issued an order regarding the price hike of tickets for Adipurush. In Andhra Pradesh, all the theatres can sell tickets for an additional Rs 50 for ten days.

Going by the order, single-screen theatres in Telangana can also sell tickets for Ts 50 extra than the actual ticket cost for three days. For the first day, the Telangana government is likely to give special permission for an early morning show at 4 am.

In cities like Mumbai and Delhi, the ticket price stands at Rs 2,000 and in Bengaluru, it is close to Rs 1,000 to 1,500.

Opening day box office collection

According to an industry veteran, they are looking at “close to Rs 80-85 crore” collections on the opening day itself. He said like the movie Pathaan, the response around Adipurush has also been very welcoming.

“So, over the weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday put together, we are looking at over Rs 200 crore comfortably. Pathaan was as touted and as welcoming as Adipurush has been. A lot of people were waiting for a Shah Rukh Khan film then. Both Pathaan and Adipurush share a common topicality and the share of the noise in the market or the expectation is largely the same,” he said.

Exhibitor and distributor Sunny Chandiramani, who runs 25 screens across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, said the advance booking of Adipurush is equivalent to that of Pathaan.

“The advance booking is great, it is on par with any big film, like how it was in the case of Pathaan. We hope the film will earn Rs 25 crore in Hindi and overall, the film should do over Rs 80-100 crore on the opening day,” Chandiramani said.

50k tickets booked already

Devang Sampat, CEO at Cinepolis India, said the response from movie-goers has been nothing short of extraordinary and they have already booked 50,000 tickets.

“We anticipate a remarkable turnout at Cinepolis cinemas, and it is poised to be one of the biggest blockbusters of this year. The exceptional advance booking numbers are an encouraging sign, indicating promising box office performance, and we expect 10,00,000 patrons to visit Cinepolis cinemas this week,” Sampat said.
