AR Rahman to perform live in Hyderabad on November 8 at Ramoji Film City

Hyderabad: Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman is set to return to Hyderabad after eight years with a standalone concert as part of his ongoing ā€˜The Wonderment Tour.’ The show is scheduled for November 8 at Ramoji Film City.

First Hyderabad show since 2017

The last time Rahman performed in Hyderabad was in 2017.

His return is being welcomed enthusiastically by fans across the city and beyond. Unlike other stops on the multi-city tour, the Hyderabad event will be a dedicated stadium concert, as confirmed by a press release issued by the organisers.

Tour overview

The Wonderment Tour began in Mumbai on May 3 and is described as a celebration of Rahman’s decades-long musical journey. The concerts are expected to cover a wide selection of his iconic work across films and languages.

In a statement ahead of the tour, Rahman said, ā€œThis journey is about revisiting the music that has shaped my life and hopefully touched others along the way. It’s a celebration of sound, memory and connection.ā€

Fan Reactions: ā€œWe’ve waited long enoughā€

Rahman’s return has sparked widespread excitement among his fanbase in Hyderabad, with many taking to social media to express their anticipation.

ā€œI missed his last show in 2017 and regretted it for years,ā€ said Hema Varshini, a long-time fan from Secunderabad. ā€œThis time, I’m not going to miss it for anything. We’ve waited long enough.ā€

Arjun B, a student at the University of Hyderabad, added, ā€œRahman’s music is more than just sound—it’s emotion, nostalgia, and inspiration all rolled into one. Seeing him live in our city again feels unreal.ā€

Another fan, 42-year-old tech professional Sameera Javed, said, ā€œMy kids have grown up listening to his music in the car. I’m excited that I get to take them with me this time.ā€

Venue and ticketing

The concert will be held at Ramoji Film City, one of the largest venues in the country, to accommodate the expected crowd. Ticketing and event details are yet to be announced, but organisers have indicated they will go live in the coming weeks.

Security and logistical arrangements for the show are expected to be on a large scale, given the turnout the artist typically draws.

Anticipation builds

With Rahman’s return to Hyderabad confirmed, anticipation continues to build. Fans are already circulating playlists and reminiscing about past concerts. As one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter): ā€œHyderabad, get ready. It’s not just a concert—it’s history in the making.ā€
