Arun Vijay's Tamil Rockerz to stream on SonyLIV from 19 Aug

Hyderabad: Tamil Rockerz is known for streaming pirated versions of new films. Sometimes films are leaked to Tamil Rockerz even before they release in theatres, or films are available on the website within a couple of hours after their release.

No legal action has been taken against the site or its management till now. Many people in Tamil Nadu are familiar with this website, and it is nothing less than a scam or a mafia.

Now a web series called 'Tamil Rockerz' will throw light on this mafia and what filmmakers have to go through. It will give an insight into how their network works.

Starring Arun Vijay and Vani Bhojan in the lead in Aruna's production, the series is directed by Arivazhagan under AVM productions. SonyLIV is all set to stream the web series from 19 August. The lead team was in Hyderabad to promote the series and here's what they have to say about the idea behind the series.

Director Arivazhagan: "Tamil Rockerz hasn't become a danger just for south movies but also Bollywood. We tried to unveil the working structure of their network in our web series like how they film, upload, and change their website address. We tried to answer questions like what are they expecting from maintaining these websites and many other questions. Arun Vijay and Vani Bhojan played key roles in the investigation process that reveals the secrets."

Arun Vijay: "I've worked with director Arivazhagan in two films – 'Eeram' and 'Kutram 23'. I'm also working with him on 'Border'. He always comes up with unique concepts. We've heard about Tamil Rockerz. Through this series, we tried to bring the gang's activities to light. You all know how tough it is to make a film. All that hard work goes in vain due to piracy. Seizing their activities is one major task. Besides that, we should not let the audience watch pirated movies. That's how we put an end to their network."

Aruna Guha (producer): "We made many movies in various Indian languages under our AVM productions. For the first time, we ventured into a web series. Both OTT and cinema are important to us. It's important to evolve with time. So, I think we've spread our film production boundaries with this web series. If the audience stops watching, these piracy websites will go down. We can even block such apps. This fictional web series is based on true incidents."

Vani Bhojan: "I play Sandhya in this web series. I've acted just the way director wanted me to. My character's makeover, look, and everything else was entirely done as per my director's choice. This web series will give you the feel of an exciting investigation thriller for sure."
