Hyderabad: `Tarnishing my reputation': Chiranjeevi’s deepfake porn videos go viral; actor files police complaint
Hyderabad: Tollywood actor K Chiranjeevi has filed a complaint with Hyderabad Cybercrime Police after his AI-generated pornographic deepfake videos were circulated online.
The actor said the fabricated clips have not only damaged his public image but also violated his constitutional right to privacy and dignity.
AI Deepfakes tarnishing reputation
In his detailed five-page complaint, Chiranjeevi said that at least three adult websites were streaming and monetising doctored videos falsely showing him in sexual acts with a Bollywood actress.
“These manufactured clips are being maliciously used to portray me in obscene and vulgar contexts, distorting public perception and undermining decades of goodwill,” the actor said in his complaint.
He added that the circulation of such content had caused personal and emotional distress to him and his family while misleading the public with a “false and defamatory narrative.”
Organised Cybercrime suspected
Chiranjeevi alleged that the content was created using advanced generative-AI tools and was being cross-posted on multiple mirror sites, indicating the presence of an organised cybercrime network aimed at earning commercial profit.
He submitted web links of the offending material to the police and sought urgent intervention to block and remove the content from all platforms.
Violation of Privacy and Personality Rights
“The fake videos are a direct and deliberate violation of my right to privacy, reputation, and dignity protected under Article 21 of the Constitution,” the actor said.
He also enclosed a September 26 ad-interim injunction issued by the City Civil Court, Hyderabad, which restrains digital media outlets, YouTube channels, and other online entities from using his name, image, or likeness for commercial purposes.
The court order, he said, safeguards his personality and publicity rights, and its violation amounts to contempt.
Cybercrime police register case
Acting on the complaint, the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police registered a case late on Saturday under multiple provisions, including Sections 67 and 67A of the Information Technology (IT) Act, which deal with publishing and transmitting obscene material electronically.
The case also includes Sections 79 (acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 294 (sale of obscene content), 296 (obscene acts and songs), and 336(4) (forgery for harming reputation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Sections 2(c), 3, and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women Act.
“The complainant cited three websites hosting the obscene content. We are collecting technical details of the operators to initiate legal proceedings,” police officials confirmed.
Actor seeks swift take-down and arrests
Chiranjeevi urged authorities to trace and prosecute the offenders responsible for creating and disseminating the fake videos and to ensure urgent blocking and removal of all such obscene material. “These acts not only attack my dignity but also spread misinformation that harms public trust,” he said.
