Cinema vital industry for Telangana; reforms necessary in producer-worker relations: CM Revanth
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has stressed the need for an effective monitoring mechanism to ensure transparency and fairness in the Telugu film industry.
He said the government will adopt a joint policy framework involving producers, workers, and officials to safeguard the interests of all stakeholders.
Meeting with Film Fraternity
The Chief Minister made these remarks during an interaction with a delegation of Tollywood producers and directors, led by Telangana State Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) Chairman and film producer Dil Raju, on Sunday evening.
The meeting followed the recent end of a film workers’ strike after his intervention.
Positive work environment
Revanth Reddy underlined the importance of creating a healthy work atmosphere in the industry.
“Cinema is a vital industry for Telangana, and reforms are necessary in producer-worker relations. Producers should act with humanity towards workers,” he said.
He also assured that the government would remain neutral in disputes but ensure fair solutions, discouraging monopolisation or unfair practices.
Policy and Reforms
The Chief Minister announced that a white paper will soon be prepared to outline long-term reforms and structural needs of the industry.
He emphasised that all stakeholders must operate within the law and that strikes or disputes should not disrupt the industry’s growth.
Support for Global reach
Reiterating his vision to project the Telugu film industry on the global stage, he urged that more Telugu films be shot in Telangana. Hyderabad, he noted, continues to be a hub attracting international film projects.
Skill development initiatives
To nurture talent, Revanth Reddy said a corpus fund will be created for skill development and that the upcoming Skill University will provide specialised training facilities for the film sector.
“Cinema is not only art and culture but also a major employment-generating industry vital to Telangana’s economy and image,” he stated.
The meeting was attended by leading producers, including Allu Aravind, D. Suresh Babu, Gemini Kiran, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, DVV Danayya, Naveen Erneni, Anil Sunkara, and several others, along with celebrated directors Trivikram Srinivas, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Boyapati Srinivas, Vamshi Paidipally, and Anil Ravipudi.
