By Bhavana Published on 21 Dec 2022 2:30 AM GMTHyderabad: Nayanthara's 'Connect' will release on 22 December. As part of the promotional campaign, director Ashwin Saravanan interacted with the media on Tuesday. Here is an excerpt from the interview:
What made you write a horror story connected to the lockdown?
Ashwin Saravanan: Many families were apart during the lockdown. This story revolves around a family that is forced to live separately due to the lockdown. During that time, a mother notices a change in her daughter who seems to be possessed by a paranormal force. What happens later?
For the role of exorcist…why Anupam Kher? I mean he is a versatile actor, but why an exorcist?
Ashwin Saravanan: Anupam Kher is someone who can nail his performance in any character. I imagined him in the role of an exorcist and let me tell you that he has done splendidly as an exorcist. His stellar act is a standout.
What is the reason behind having no interval for 'Connect'?
Ashwin Saravanan: Hollywood films don't have an interval to not tamper with the flow of the film. We've done the same with 'Connect'. The feel and thrills will be sustained for 100 minutes. It's going to be a great experience.
Tell us about working with Nayanthara. How was the experience?
Ashwin Saravanan: Nayanthara and I previously did 'Maya'. I have immense respect for her. She immediately came on board for the project after listening to the story. The audience will see a new facet of Nayanthara in this film. And the sound design itself took three months. The audience will experience something extremely new-age in theaters.
Looking forward to working with someone in Tollywood?
Ashwin Saravanan: I like Nani from Tollywood. I narrated 'Mayuri' script to him back in the day and he was ready to produce it. I want to do a film with him sooner or later.
