After 18 years, actor Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya announced separation.
Dhanush took to his Twitter handle to share the news.
"18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting... Today we stand at a place where our paths separate... Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this. Om Namashivaaya! (sic)," he said.
This news left fans and Rajinikanth in shock. Aishwarya and Dhanush have always been an ideal couple and there's a huge fan following for both of them. Aishwarya being Rajinikanth's daughter, there are a lot of people who follow her too. The couple has two sons, `Yathra' and `Linga'.
Fans have given mixed responses to Dhanush's tweet.
A Rajinikanth fan club page wrote, "That's unexpected and shocking! The reasons behind the break-up are none of our business. Just wishing you and @ash_r_dhanush all the best for the future! Be strong Thalaivaa @rajinikanth ļø"
Another Twitter user wrote, "First Samantha and Chaitanya and Now Dhanush-Aishwarya. The "Divorce Virus" is spreading very fast... don't know why it is happening and mostly in Economically Privileged or urban-centric people."
