Dont release films on OTT, wait for theatrical release: TS film body to producers

Hyderabad: The members of Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce (TSFCC) have urged Telugu film producers to wait till October to release their films on OTT platform. They have also asked the producers to wait for the theatrical release of their movies.

The TSFCC members along with the exhibitors have called a meeting to discuss the issue on Saturday.

"Since the theaters in the Telugu states have not yet opened and producers are opting for OTT release, all the members unanimously decided to request the producers to wait till October 2021 to release their films. If the theatres don't open even after October, then the producers can release their films on OTT," said TSFCC.

Warning the producers, it said that keeping the larger interest of the entire Telugu film industry in mind, all producers are requested to consider their appeal or else the exhibitors of Telangana will plan a future course of action.

The TSFCC members have also called for a general body meeting in July at the Telugu Producers Council, Ramanaidu Building.

The film commerce body also requested the Andhra Pradesh government to reconsider the request of the exhibitors of Andhra Pradesh regarding the admission rates in cinema theaters. "Since the survival of the exhibitors is at stake, such low rates will result in the closure of theaters and many people will lose employment. The producers are unable to release their movies and it is affecting the Telangana business, too," the TSFCC said urging the government to fix reasonable and affordable rates.
