This film which marks the directorial debut of Ashwin Gangaraju was slated to hit the theatres on June 4. Ashwin Gangaraju worked with Rajamouli as an AD and associate scriptwriter. But due to the lockdown, the release of the film has been postponed. The filmmaker took to Twitter to announce that the new release date will be finalized later.
Sources said the film will skip a theatrical release and stream on Sony LIV.
Sony LIV is launching the Tamil and Telugu segment and Aakashavaani is one of those films which will be releasing on the digital platform in the upcoming days. An official release date will be announced soon by filmmakers.
Aakashavaani features Samuthirakani, Vinay Varma, and several other newcomers in important roles. The film's teaser hit the web in March and received a lot of appreciation from the audience and critics. The director announced that the film has been postponed.
While Sreekar Prasad is the Editor, Sai Madhav Burra has penned the dialogues and MM Keeravani's son Kaala Bhaairava has composed the music. While the shooting and the post-production have already been wrapped up, the makers are waiting for the right time to make the official announcement.
During the lockdown which was forced due to the second wave, many films from different languages streamed on OTTs directly by skipping theatrical releases. But the producers of Tollywood refrained from selling the rights of any big films to OTTs. But now, it looks like producers of small-budget films are making their way to the OTTs.
