Exclusive: Satyadev shares how he bagged the opportunity to work with Chiranjeevi in Godfather

Hyderabad: Actor Satyadev is on cloud nine as 'Godfather', where he portrays a negative role, is releasing in theatres on Wednesday. Directed by Mohan Raja, 'Godfather' stars Megastar Chiranjeevi in the titular role while Nayanthara and Samuthirakhani are seen in key roles.

Not many know that Satyadev is a hardcore fan of Chiranjeevi and that he always dreamt of working with him. Finally, he will be seen sharing screen space with the Megastar himself. In an exclusive interview with NewsMeter, Satyadev discussed his experience.

NewsMeter: I am sure you are super excited about 'Godfather'. Tell us how you bagged the chance to work with Chiranjeevi?

Satyadev: One day, Annaya (Chiranjeevi) called and invited me to have lunch with him during one of his film shoots. While having lunch, he started narrating a story to me. I wondered why he was telling me the story, and I was surprised. In between, he looked at me and asked, "Am I not telling the story correctly? Shall I ask the director to tell you?"

I replied, "You telling me a story is like a dream. But I don't understand why you are explaining the story. I will do it if you just tell me to do it."

Later, he asked me whether I had seen the original film 'Lucifer'. I replied I had not and that I would not, but I would do the film for sure. That's how I got the opportunity I never dreamt of.

N: How was the experience?

Satyadev: It was great. At the same time, it was strange too as it was something I had never even dreamt of. I am his die-hard fan and he is my mentor. That moment when Chiranjeevi garu asked me to do the film, I was so happy. But while playing the role, I understood the depth of the character. I actually started getting tensed.

N: Did he appreciate your performance?

Satyadev: A lot of people told me that he was impressed with my acting. I was on cloud nine then and can't put my happiness into words. It was he who inspired me to become an actor and I grew up watching his films. I can't explain the feeling when Annaya appreciated my performance.

N: Working with your inspiration would have been great, isn't it? How was Chiranjeevi on the sets with you?

Satyadev: He made sure I was in my comfort zone. Even after his shot was over, he used to be by my side to help me. Though I was tense when I was next to him, I understood he had given me a huge responsibility as an actor. So, it was my duty to do that job properly. In front of that responsibility, all other fears were nothing.

N: We heard you have a 14-minute action scene with Chiranjeevi in the climax of the movie. Can you explain that?

Satyadev: That 14-minute action scene in the climax stands out as one of the major highlights of the film. However, there are many more scenes in the film that will give us goosebumps.
