Hyderabad: Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil is set to make his debut in the Telugu film industry with Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa'. The makers of the film announced the big news on 21 March.

'Pushpa' is directed by Sukumar and produced by Ravi Shankar and Naveen of Mythri Movie Makers. The filmmakers took to social media to announce the news and wrote, "Welcoming #FahadhFaasil on board for the biggest face-off."

Initially, Vijay Sethupathi was roped in for the role but due to various reasons, he had to walk out of the film. Now, Fahadh will take on the role of the villain in the action-thriller based on red sanders smuggling. The film is set in the Seshachalam forest, the hilly region of Tirumala. Rashmika Mandanna will play the role of a forest officer.

Jointly produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, the film has music composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

Fahadh Faasil is awaiting the release of his Malayalam film 'Irul' directed by Naseef Yusuf Izuddin. The movie features only three characters played by Fahadh Faasil, Soubin Shahir, and Darshana Rajendran. The film, which was shot during the COVID-19 pandemic, will skip theatrical release and will stream on Netflix on 2 April.
