Hyderabad:Telangana government will organise the Gaddar Film Awards on a grand scale in a bid to draw the attention of the global film fraternity towards Hyderabad.

Inaugurating the film screening programme of the Gaddar Film Awards at Prasad Labs, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said the awards ceremony, scheduled to be held on the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, would be conducted on a historic scale by the Telangana Film Development Corporation, with full support from the state government.

Global focus on Hyderabad

Bhatti Vikramarka said the event would be organised in such a way that the entire global film industry would turn its focus towards Hyderabad.

He assured that the government would extend complete cooperation, financial, administrative, and logistical, to ensure the grand success of the awards function.

He stressed that Hyderabad should not remain confined to being only a Telugu film industry hub, but must evolve into a centre for cinema across Indian languages and the world.

Tribute to Revolutionary Gaddar

Paying rich tributes to Gaddar, the Deputy Chief Minister described him as a towering revolutionary who used art, music, and dreams as tools for social transformation.

He said Gaddar dedicated his entire life to the people, and it was in recognition of his extraordinary contribution that the People’s Government instituted film awards in his name.

He noted that this year marks the second edition of the Gaddar Film Awards and announced that the presentation ceremony would be held in a grand and memorable manner on Ugadi.

Personal recollections of Gaddar

Recalling his association with Gaddar during his final days, Bhatti Vikramarka said he had spent considerable time with him. He remembered how Gaddar recorded experimental songs in his studio and spent many of his last days immersed in creative work at recording studios.

Vision to make Hyderabad a Global Film Hub

The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that Hyderabad offers an unmatched ecosystem for the film industry, citing its favourable climate, skilled workforce, world-class infrastructure, and strong law-and-order system.

He said the government is preparing a comprehensive blueprint to leverage these strengths and transform Hyderabad into a global film capital.

He also noted that cinema is not only a powerful medium for social messaging but also a major driver of economic growth. Referring to the global recognition earned by the Telugu film industry, including prestigious awards like the Oscars, he said the People’s Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is determined to build on these achievements.

Government’s doors open for Film Industry

Assuring full support to the film fraternity, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government’s doors would remain open at all times, even at midnight, for any requirement related to finance, social issues, or law and order. He said the Chief Minister, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and he would always be accessible for the welfare of film workers.

He explained that due to the ongoing municipal elections, the Chief Minister and the concerned Minister could not attend the programme, but reiterated that promoting and protecting the film industry remains their collective priority.

Appreciation for FDC and Jury

The Deputy Chief Minister appreciated Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju for taking responsibility for the Gaddar Film Awards with sincerity and commitment. He said Dil Raju has been proactively offering suggestions to the government on addressing issues faced by film workers and strengthening the cinema ecosystem.

He also lauded Jury Chairman Mani Sharma, stating that he needs no introduction in the industry, and urged the jury members to ensure a transparent, impartial, and unbiased selection process.

The programme was attended by FDC Chairman Dil Raju, Screening Committee Chairman Mani Sharma, FDC Executive Director Kishore Babu, and other prominent representatives of the film industry.
