Directed by Mohan Raja, this film has hit the screens today. It has been one of the much-awaited films from Tollywood and undoubtedly, Chiranjeevi bounced back stronger this time.
The film is a political drama with a twist. After the death of Chief Minister PKR, his party is searching for his successor. PKR's son-in-law Jayadev (Satyadev) slush with funds wants to wrest power while pushing his illegitimate business. But there's one man standing his way - Brahma (Megastar Chiranjeevi). How Brahma stops Jayadev from becoming the CM of the state is the rest of the story. Chiranjeevi looks extremely handsome and has been styled well. He suits the character perfectly and gives a settled performance in the film. His mannerisms and dialogue timing have also been used quite well by the director.
Nayanatara is one of the major attractions in the film. Salman Khan is superb in his limited role. Satya Dev is great as the main villain and gives an impressive performance. His body language and dialogue delivery suit the mood of the film. Sunil gets a meaty role and does what is expected of him. Puri Jagganath looks good in his limited screen presence. Murali Sharma is one artist who performed really well as a partner in crime to Satya Dev. Other supporting artists like Samuthirakani, Divi, Murali Mohan, and others did justice to their roles.
The production values of the film are pretty decent. Music by Thaman is good but his BGM is extraordinary. Dialogues are decent and so was the screenplay. Editing could have been better in the first half.
Coming to the director, he has done a good job with the film. But on the con side, the flair in action sequences is not top-notch when compared to the original film Lucifer. The film has a great story but the Director failed to narrate in crunch moments. If he would have elevated the political drama on a high note, the output would have been quite better. Nirav Shah's visual composition is brilliant. The frames look rich and diverse, thanks to some brilliant work from him behind the lens
Mohan Raj has fine-tuned the Lucifer script a fair bit and there are multiple new elevation additions to the narrative. Chiranjeevi's character has more prominence than that of Mohan Lal in the original. Thaman's background score is terrific. He elevated several action-packed scenes with his powerful background score.
The major drawback of the film is its routine story. If you watched Lucifer, then you will not find anything novel in this film. The ideologies of Satyadev and Chiranjeevi related has not been established well. The film had good scope for political drama, but the director narrates the film in a casual manner. Also, there is a slight lag in the first half.
Godfather is a mass movie that celebrates the mannerisms of Megastar Chiranjeevi. It is a complete political thriller played by a complete actor. More perfection in the first half would have made the film a bit better.
