Green India Challenge: This Womens Day, Indian women asked to plant trees, share selfies

Hyderabad: Many celebrities, politicians, and citizens took up the Green India Challenge, an initiative started by Rajya Sabha MP Joginipally Santosh Kumar. Ahead of Women’s Day, the MP released the Women’s Day Green India Challenge poster on Thursday and called upon women to participate in the challenge and plant saplings and protect them.

Women always take the lead in protecting nature and teaching the next generation to save mother earth for future generations. Keeping this in mind, the Green India Challenge called upon women to take part in it and asked them to share their selfies with the plants.

Kangana Ranaut, Rashmika Mandanna, P.V. Sindhu, Pooja Hegde, Renu Desai, Anupama Parameswaran and many other celebrities took part in the initiative.

Telangana education minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy said women are more powerful and will accomplish the tasks they take up. The minister said she will do her best to make every woman and student participation in the Green India Challenge Women’s Day special program.

“Women are working tirelessly for the conservation of the Earth while excelling in all fields,” said Chief Minister’s secretary Smita Sabharwal. Taking inspiration from Salumarada Thimmakka, she called upon every woman to plant a sapling on International Women’s Day and make the program a big success.

Similarly, Priyanka Varghese said the Green India Challenge is a selfless program implemented for the benefit of the next generation.



International Women’s Day will be celebrated on 8 March. “Nature will flourish more if the same hands that raise children to plant the saplings,” MP Santosh Kumar said.
