'Kuruthi' to 'Shershah': Here's list of films streaming on OTTs in August

Though producers and distributors are ready to open theatres, the country continues to report COVID-19 cases. Many films are now all set to skip theatrical releases and stream on OTTs directly.

Hyderabad: Though producers and distributors are ready to open theatres, the country continues to report COVID-19 cases. Many films are now all set to skip theatrical releases and stream on OTTs directly. Here's the list of films that will be stream in August:

Kuruthi: Another film of Prithviraj Sukumaran is all set to hit the OTT directly sans theatrical release. The film will stream on Amazon Prime Video from 11 August.

'Kuruthi' is a political thriller directed by Manu Warrier, written by Anish Pallyal, and produced by Supriya Menon through the company Prithviraj Productions. It stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and features Murali Gopy, Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko, and Srindaa in supporting roles. The film was slated for release in May but due to the pandemic, the filmmakers decided to release it directly on OTT. The film is about how enduring human relations that transcend boundaries struggle to survive trials of hatred and prejudice.

Shershah: Starring Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in lead roles, 'Shershaah' is the story about Param Vir Chakra awardee and Army captain Vikram Batra. Siddharth will be seen in a dual role in this film. He will play Batra and his identical twin brother Vishal. Kiara will be seen playing Dimple Cheema. Directed by Vishnuvardhan, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Shababir Boxwala, and others. The film will stream on Amazon Prime Video from 12 August.

Boomika: Aishwarya Rajesh's upcoming film 'Boomika' is also skipping theatrical release and is all set to premiere on Vijay Television and Netflix on 22 August. 'Boomika' is touted to be an ecological thriller. "Very happy to announce @aishu_dil starrer #Boomika 's Tamil Premiere on @vijaytelevision. This Eco thriller-horror crafted by @RathindranR is sure to entertain you all," Stone Bench Films, the production house bankrolling the movie, tweeted.

Bhuj: The Pride of India: Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, 'Bhuj' stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role. The Bollywood film is a war drama set during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. It talks about the life of IAF squadron leader Vijay Karnik who was in-charge of the Bhuj airport. He, with his team, reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 women from the local village Madhapar. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk, Pranitha Subhash, and Ihana Dhillon. The film will stream on Disney+ Hotstar on 13 August.

Netrikann: After 'Mookuthi Amman', Nayantara is set for another OTT release. Her upcoming film 'Netrikann', directed by Milind Rau, will directly stream on Disney+ Hotstar from 13 August. This film is a crime thriller and Nayantara will be seen playing a visually-impaired woman who is the lead witness in a police case.

Vivaha Bhojanambu: Telugu film 'Vivaha Bhojanambu' is all set to stream on Sony LIV from 13 August. This comedy entertainer is also going to skip a theatrical release. Comic artiste Satya will be seen in the lead role of Mahesh who is a stingy guy. The film is based on true incidents and takes place during the lockdown.
