Hyderabad: Inspired by Suriya, Chiranjeevi to launch free education program for poor

HYDERABAD: Actor Chiranjeevi has announced plans to launch a free education program for underprivileged children. The announcement was made during a special program held on the occasion of Ugadi.

Chiranjeevi stated that after 25 years of focusing on blood and eye donation through the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust, he intends to expand his social work into the education sector.

He noted that while Tamil actor Suriya started the Agaram Foundation after being inspired by Chiranjeevi’s blood donation drives, he is now drawing inspiration from Suriya’s work to provide free education.

"When I understood the importance of blood and how many lives are lost due to its shortage, I felt the need to motivate my fans to participate in blood donation. That thought came to me 25 years ago. I am now thinking about how to provide education to poor people. I want to draw inspiration from Suriya and begin offering free education. Not just in the Telugu states, wherever there is a need, I will work towards providing free education," Chiranjeevi said.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan responded to the announcement on social media.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated that the initiative to provide free education to poor children reflects a commitment to social welfare. He congratulated Chiranjeevi for the decision and noted that the move would benefit many households.

Chiranjeevi’s existing institutions, including the Blood Bank and Eye Bank, have been operational for over two decades. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he also established oxygen banks across several districts in the Telugu states.

The actor stated that comprehensive details regarding the structure and implementation of the upcoming educational program will be revealed soon.
