Hyderabad: Indian Padel Federation (IPF) will host the first-ever FIP Silver Hyderabad 2025 from October 12 to October 15
A landmark event in India’s sporting calendar, the FIP Silver will be held at the KPGBA, Hyderabad. The tournament will feature both men’s and women’s categories with a record prize pool of ₹15 lakh, the highest ever for padel in the country.
A New Benchmark for Padel in India
The tournament is part of the official International Padel Federation (FIP) tour and will be played on three MejorSet courts, internationally recognized for quality and performance.
Announcing the event, Ms. Sneha Abraham Sehgal, President of IPF, said:
“The FIP Silver Hyderabad represents a watershed moment for padel in India. With world-class infrastructure, top-ranked international players, and the highest prize pool in our country’s history, this tournament sets a new benchmark. It is not just a competition but the beginning of India’s journey as a global hub for padel.”
The event is powered by Radha TMT as the Title Sponsor, highlighting corporate interest in the sport’s expansion. The semifinals and finals will be live-streamed on FIP’s official YouTube channel and broadcast on Zoom TV (Times Group Network).
International and National Participation
The FIP Silver Hyderabad will bring together top-ranked international padel athletes alongside India’s emerging talent. Organizers expect the tournament to give Indian players exposure to elite global competition while offering spectators their first close look at professional padel of this scale.
Padel: What the Sport Is All About
Padel is a racket sport that blends elements of tennis and squash. Played in doubles format on an enclosed court smaller than a tennis court, it uses solid rackets without strings and a ball similar to a tennis ball but with slightly less pressure.
• Scoring system: Same as tennis (15, 30, 40, game).
• Court design: Surrounded by glass or mesh walls, allowing the ball to rebound like in squash.
• Style of play: Fast-paced, emphasizing teamwork, reflexes, and strategy over raw power.
Originating in Mexico in the 1960s, padel grew rapidly in Spain and Latin America before spreading to Europe and the Middle East. In recent years, it has become one of the fastest-growing sports globally, with professional circuits and ranking systems under the FIP.
Why Hyderabad Matters
Hyderabad has emerged as one of the few Indian cities with professional-grade padel infrastructure. The KPGBA facility, in particular, with its MejorSet courts, meets international standards, enabling India to host official FIP tour events for the first time.
Officials hope that staging such a tournament will not only attract global attention but also encourage grassroots development of padel in India.
Looking Ahead
With India making its debut on the FIP Silver circuit, the event is seen as a stepping stone toward larger international tournaments in the country. For Indian athletes, it is also a chance to earn global ranking points and gain experience against established international names.
As Sehgal noted, “This tournament is the beginning, not the end. We aim to bring more international events to India and inspire young players to see padel as a professional sport with real opportunities.”
