Hyderabad: Actor Surya Srinivas has been working in the Telugu film industry for some time now and he recently came into the limelight after playing the lead role in 'Commitment'. Just like for any other budding actor who is trying to make it big in the industry without a Godfather, things have been tough for Srinivas.

Srinivas hails from Andhra Pradesh and has completed MCA. With a passion to do something different from the routine, this newbie has a lot more to say about his debut.

"I've always wanted to try my luck in acting. Thankfully, my parents didn't say no. They encouraged to me pursue my passion but just like any other parents, they warned me about the dos and don'ts. Back in 2011, I managed to get the opportunity to work for the direction team of a film and it went on. In 2016, while working, I started trying my luck at acting and it worked," said the young actor.

While working in the direction department, he bagged a chance to play the lead in one of Teja's films. He even worked with Suhasini Maniratnam in an ad commercial and in 'Kaaram Dosa', a feature film. He made his debut as an actor in 2016, and since then, he has not looked back.

Talking about the challenges he faced in the industry, Surya said, "Unlike many, I don't have godfathers here in the industry. All I know is to work hard and wait for the right time to be known for my work. It is tough to get opportunities to work. But for me, it is time to be noticed. I never underwent any training for acting, but whatever I have done till now is with passion. It is my family's support that always pushed me to do my best in anything I do. They always pushed me to pursue my dreams."

If you have watched Keerthy Suresh's 'Mahanati' and wondered who played NT Ramarao so well, let us tell you that it was Surya who impressed the audience with his acting skills.

He has also played minor roles in Mahesh Babu's 'Maharshi' and the web series 'Gaalivana' with Radhika Saratkumar and Sai Kumar. Audiences have praised Surya for his acting in 'Gaalivana'.

'Commitment', directed by Lakshmikanth, was all about the casting couch. When asked why he chose to be part of such a bold movie, Surya replied, "I wanted to do something different from the routine and when 'Commitment' came to me, I loved it immediately and had the urge to work on something like this. It has been an amazing experience. Looking forward to something different…always."

Surya will next be seen in writer Lakshmi Bhupal's production 'Enthavaaru Gaani', then in a film with Hebbah Patel, a project called 'Chill Bro', 'Chantabbayi', and a lot more.

Talking about the challenges, he added, "I get work from people who watched me work on screen and know that I can pull off any role. But it is difficult for newbies and outsiders who want to make it big in the industry. I think things like these take a lot of time. I know there are going to be great days ahead."
