IFFI 22: Megastar Chiranjeevi named 'Indian Film Personality of the Year'

The announcement was made by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur at the grand opening of the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), in Goa.

Fans of the actor are on cloud nine after the actor was honored with a prestigious award. Chiranjeevi is called the Megastar of the Telugu film industry and he needs no introduction. He has been in the industry for more than four decades. He has worked in more than 150 feature films in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada. He is regarded as one of the most successful and influential actors in Telugu cinema.
His parents named him Shiva Shankar Vara Prasad. Since he is a huge believer in Lord Hanuman, he is called Chiranjeevi since his entry into films. He captured the imagination of the masses with his performance in `Initlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya' in 1982. The Godfather actor is admired for his zestful dance performances and fight sequences brimming with power.
In 2006, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award, for his contributions to Indian cinema.
