Hyderabad: Jury met for Gaddar Telangana Film Awards, chairperson actor Jayasudha reviews nominations 

Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has started the process for the prestigious Gaddar Telangana Film Awards to recognise cinema excellence in the State.

A jury meeting, chaired by renowned actor Jayasudha, was held on Tuesday at the FDC Conference Hall. Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) chairman Dil Raju addressed the members and emphasised the importance of evaluating the nominations with impartiality and integrity.

The screening process of the nominations will begin on April 21. The jury members also discussed the roadmap for the evaluation process during the meeting.

A gap of 14 years

Dil Raju urged the jury members to ensure that the awards bring national-level recognition to the Telugu Cinema industry. He noted that after a gap of 14 years, the State Government is presenting film awards and mentioned that even during the unified Andhra Pradesh, such an overwhelming response to the awards was not witnessed. He expressed confidence in the jury, which consists of experts and professionals appointed by the government.

Speaking on the occasion, actress Jayasudha stated that she sees this responsibility entrusted by the government as a challenge and assured that the selection process will be carried out with sincerity and dedication.

1,248 nominations received

Dr S Harish, managing director of the Telangana Film Development Corporation, informed that the government has constituted a 15-member jury chaired by actress Jayasudha. He said a total of 1,248 nominations have been received across all categories for the Gaddar Awards. Of these, 1,172 nominations are in the individual category and 76 nominations are in feature films, children’s films, debut films, documentaries/short films, film criticism, and books.
