Kantara, a Kannada film directed by Rishab Shetty, was released in Telugu on Friday after making waves at the box office in its native state. The film grossed over Rs 5 crore on Day 1, and everyone expected Day 2 to outperform Day 1. As expected, the film became a hit at the box office, grossing more than the first day. The entire collection for the two days is around Rs 11.5 crore.
When it was released on September 30, it grossed more than the original version. On Day 1 in Karnataka, the film grossed Rs 1.9 crores. Now, the film is causing a sensation with massive collections in states other than its own. This is a wonderful example of how much the Telugu audience loves good cinema. Due to positive word of mouth, the film is likely to have a dream run at the box office.
The film (inclusive of all languages) recently crossed over Rs 100 crore worldwide and is still going strong at the box office. Rishab Shetty's Kannada film, Kantara beat Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 to become the highest-rated Indian film on IMDb. The film has been receiving rave reviews from critics and audiences since its release.
Kantara is an action thriller with touches of divine elements of Bhootha Kola, a traditional dance for the deity. Apart from writing and directing the film, Kantara also features Rishab Shetty in the lead role. The film also stars Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda, and Pramod Shetty in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films.
