More than 10 Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada movies are being remade in Telugu with some A-list actors playing the lead. Expectations on some of the films are already high. Here are the details!
Narappa: This film is the official remake of the Tamil blockbuster film Asuran, which was directed by Vetrimaaran. The remake has Venkatesh and Priyamani in lead roles, stepping into the shoes of Dhanush & Manju Warrier. The remake is directed by Srikanth Addala and produced by Suresh Babu and Kalaipuli S Thanu.
Lucifer: This Malayalam film which stars Mohanlal in the lead role is directed by actor turned director Prithviraj Sukumaran even played a cameo in this film. The remake will have Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role and this film marks the maiden collaboration of Chiranjeevi and director Mohan Raja. It was announced at the launch ceremony that SS Thaman has been roped in to compose music. Raja is returning to helm a Telugu film after two decades.
Andhadhun: Starring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role, Andhadhun is directed by Sriram Raghavan. The Telugu remake has Nithiin in the lead role and is titled, Maestro. It is being directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and produced by Shresht Movies. Tamannaah Bhatia and Nabha Natesh are stepping into the shoes of Tabu and Radhika Apte respectively.
Karnan: Directed by Mari Selvaraj, Karnan stars Dhanush and Rajisha Vijayan in lead roles. Karnan is being remade in Telugu by Bellamkonda Sreenivas. His father and producer Bellamkonda Suresh bought the remake rights of the film.
Love Mocktail: This is a Kannada film that is a huge hit. It is being remade in Telugu by Satyadev and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film has gone on floors and may release sometime next year.
Oh My Kadavule: This Tamil film, which stars Vijay Sethupathi, Ashok Selvan, Rithika Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar in lead roles. This film is being remade in Telugu and stars Vishwak Sen in a lead role and is being produced by PVP Cinemas.
Drishyam 2: This Malayalam blockbuster needs no introduction. Starring Mohanlal and Meena in lead roles, Drishyam 2 is the remake of Drishyam. Telugu remake stars Venkatesh, Meena, Nadiya, and Naresh in lead roles. The film is wrapped up already and might release later this year.
Kappela: Starring Roshan Mathew, Anna Ben, and Sreenath Basi in lead roles, Kappela is a Malayalam film that received critical acclaim from all over. This film will also star Vishwak Sen and Naveen Chandra playing Roshan Mathew and Sreenath Basi respectively.
Midnight Runners: This film is a Korean drama that is a blockbuster there. The Telugu remake has Nivetha Thomas and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles and is being directed by Sudheer Varma.
Ayyappanum Koshiyum: This is one remake film that has all eyes on it. Starring Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati in lead roles, they will be stepping into the shoes of Biju Menon and Prithviraj Sukumaran respectively.
Vedalam: This is a Tamil film which has Ajith in the lead role. The remake will have Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role and is yet to go on floors. As per the reports, director Meher Ramesh will direct the project.
