Is Karthi stepping into the shoes of notorious criminal Tiruvarur Murugan for his next?

Hyderabad: Tamil actor Karthi is known for choosing unique scripts that help him prove his mettle. He is one of the most versatile and amazing actors down south with a huge market in the Telugu business as well. The actor has received critical acclaim for his performance in Kaithi and Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan.

Currently, Karthi is busy with his upcoming film Japan. The posters and teaser of the film have already raised expectations on the content of the film, and Karthi looks different in a never seen quirky avatar sporting a glittery co-rod.

As per the latest news that has been doing rounds on the internet, Japan is said to be a fictional adaptation of the events from the life of a notorious criminal Tiruvarur Murugan who was the main accused in the jewel theft at Lalitha Jewellery.

In reality, Murugan contracted AIDS and passed away. While director Raju Murugan thought of changing this element in Japan’s climax, Karthi asked to retain it and not to make any changes. This is a risky yet interesting script and Karthi is said to have been confident about the film doing immensely well at the box office.

Japan marks the maiden collaboration between Karthi and Raju Murugan. It also stars Anu Emmanuel. The teaser of the film was released a couple of days ago and introduced on Twitter with the caption, “Here comes our #Japan - Made in India.”

The makers made it clear that the film will be dubbed and released in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Karthi plays a character called Japan in the film. The video introduces him as someone who is very mysterious but can be serious and funny occasionally.

Expectations on this one are high already!
