Legendary lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry passes away at 66

Sastry has been working in the film industry since 1984 when he made his debut with Janani Janmabhoomi and rose to fame with the song Vidhatha Thalapuna in K. Viswanath directorial 'Sirivennela'.

Legendary lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry passes away at 66

Hyderabad: Legendary Telegu film lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry passed away on Tuesday at the age of 66. The renowned lyricist was suffering from lung-related ailments and was admitted to a hospital after his health started deteriorating.

Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry was admitted to KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, on 24 November with pneumonia. A team of expert doctors was monitoring his condition. On Tuesday, the hospital, in a statement, said the veteran lyricist had passed away.

Governor of Telangana, Tamilisai Soundararajan offered her condolences to the legendary lyricist in a tweet.

Sastry has been working in the film industry since 1984 when he made his debut with Janani Janmabhoomi and rose to fame with the song Vidhatha Thalapuna in K. Viswanath directorial 'Sirivennela'.

He was born in Anakapalle of Visakhapatnam district in 1955 and named Chembolu Seetharama Sastry. After he rose to fame with the film 'Sirivennela' he took on the name of the film as his moniker and came to be known as Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry.

He has written over 3,000 songs and has penned for some amazing films like 'Kshana Kshanam', 'Swarna Kamalam', 'Swayamkrushi', 'Swati Kiranam', 'Shrutilayalu', 'Sindhooram', 'Nuvve Kavali', 'Okkadu', 'Varsham' and 'Gamyam'.
