Mohanlal confirms release of Marakkar in theatres; film to hit screens on 2 Dec
After announcing that he will release ‘Marakkar’ on an OTT platform, producer Antony Perumbavoor has changed his mind and decided to release the film in theatres.

Mohanlal, the lead actor of the film, has been silent about the release of the film. Finally, he took to Twitter to announce the release and wrote, "The much-awaited 'Marakkar - Arabikadalinte Simham' to be released in Theatres worldwide on the 2nd of December, 2021! It's time to break the seal of that stunning surprise and we can't contain the joy! You are about to experience one of the most marvellous visual treats in all its glory, from the place where its dashing frames deserve to be indulged in!(sic)."

Kerala's minister for Film Development Corporation and Chalachitra Academy Saji Cherian confirmed that superstar Mohanlal's upcoming period film 'Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham' will first release in theatres before it will be made available on OTT platforms. He said the decision was made during his meeting with producer Antony Perumbavoor.
"Mohanlal's film 'Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham' will release in theatres. The decision was taken after a meeting with stakeholders in my office. The movie will hit screens on December 2. Producer Antony Perumbavoor has made a big sacrifice in this matter. I congratulate him," Saji wrote on his Facebook page.
Saji Cherian has assured filmmakers that the state government will consider allowing theatres to fill up 75 per cent of their total seating capacity as opposed to just 50 per cent.
'Marakkar' stars Keerthy Suresh and Kalyani Priyadarshan. It is a pan India film releasing in multiple languages and is the first big budget pan India film from the Malayalam film industry.
