While his statements garnered mixed reactions from actors and filmmakers, Naseeruddin Shah didn't hold back from offering his thoughts on filmmakers SS Rajamouli and Sukumar, particularly about `RRR’ and `Pushpa: The Rise’.
In a recent interview, Naseeruddin Shah discussed the evolving tastes of the younger generation of audiences, expressing his confidence that they would embrace and appreciate smaller, more nuanced films.
He candidly admitted to not having watched SS Rajamouli's `RRR’ and Sukumar's `Pushpa’. According to the seasoned actor, apart from the excitement factor, he couldn't discern the deeper appeal of these films. Naseeruddin also mentioned his viewing of Mani Ratnam's epic film `Ponniyin Selvan’ and praised the filmmaker as a highly-skilled director without ulterior motives.
In response to Naseeruddin Shah's remarks about `The Kashmir Files’ being a 'disturbing film,' filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri weighed in, stating that it's entirely the actor's prerogative to define what constitutes a good or bad film.
While acknowledging his admiration for Naseeruddin Shah's acting talent and past collaborations, including casting him in "The Tashkent Files," Vivek expressed concerns about the actor's recent comments. He suggested that Naseeruddin Shah's statements may reflect frustration and a tendency to gravitate toward negative narratives.
