By Bhavana Published on 8 Sep 2022 8:42 AM GMTArya, one of south India's most bankable actors, was in town to promote his upcoming film `Captain'. Directed by Shakti Soundar Raja, `Captain' is an action thriller releasing in Telugu and Tamil.
Here's what the actor answered our questions about while promoting the film.
Arya's recent two films Sarpatta Parambarai and Teddy released on OTT during the lockdown period and both of them were a big hit. In fact, Sarpatta Parambarai, directed by Pa Ranjit took Arya to another level.
"I never thought the film would receive so much love. It was difficult to complete shooting during a critical time. But I, Pa Ranjith, and the entire cast and crew worked hard every day to bring the best. People across the country watched it and have showered us with love. People have started looking at a new me since then," he said.
He is super confident about Captain, which is releasing tomorrow. When asked to share some details about his role in it, he said, "I play a soldier in the film. A Captain basically. I and my team of soldiers fight against a creature that is going to cause harm to us. People have been comparing it with Hollywood movie Predator and we are nothing less than that. All that matters are the efforts. Captain is more of an audio and visual experience."
On the most difficult part of shooting for this film, Arya said the climax kind of drained the energy out of him and the team. "This creature is imaginary to us. You have to shoot thinking it exists. Like it is 100 feet above the ocean and 20 feet inside it. We had to be under the water for two long hours that too while wearing the diving equipment. I used to take a break after two to three hours. The entire team worked really hard for the film," he added.
If not for director Shakti, Arya wouldn't be doing this film at all he says. "Shakti wanted to make this film on a larger scale and we wanted to make it nothing less than a Hollywood film. Within the budget, we managed to make the best," said the Raja Rani actor.
Arya will soon make his OTT debut. He worked for a web series called The Village and it is an Amazon Prime Video original. It is going to be gory, and violent and there will be a lot of bloodshed too. This series is under post-production now and will be out to stream probably next year.
