Bollywood has never shied away from remakes. Many filmmakers pick up south Indian films and remake them in Hindi with top Bollywood actors playing lead roles.

Here is the list of films from the south which are being remade in Hindi.

Master: Thalapathy Vijay and Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi starrer `Master', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is being remade in Hindi. As per the latest information, Salman Khan bought the rights of this film. Assuming Salman Khan would be stepping into Thalapthy's shoes. Who will play the role of antagonist is not known.

Soorarai Pottru: This film is going to be a game-changer for director Sudha Kongara. She directed the Tamil version and is going to direct the Hindi version as well. Filmmakers have not revealed the cast so far. The film will be produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment.

96: This Tamil film needs no introduction. Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead role, the film was directed by Prem Kumar. It was a huge hit in 2018. Bollywood producer Ajay Kapoor has bought the rights. Details of the director and the cast are yet to be announced.

Anniyan: Released in the year 2005, Anniyan stars Chiyaan Vikram and was directed by Shankar. He is known for making films like `The Gentleman' and `Nayak' in Hindi. He also made films like `Robo', `Indian'. A pan India director, he is now remaking `Anniyan' with Ranveer Singh in lead.

Thadam: Aditya Roy Kapoor and Mrinal Thakur are all set to play the lead role in the Hindi remake of the Tamil film `Thadam'. Backed by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani, the Hindi version will be directed by Vardhan Ketkar. Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, `Thadam' is a Tamil film that was released in March 2019. It stars Arun Vijay, Tanya Hope, Smruthi Venkat, and Vidya Pradeep. The plot of the film revolves around the murder of a young man. Confusion ensues when the key accused in the murder is found to have a look-alike.

Helen: Helen is a Malayalam film that has Anna Ben and Lal in the lead roles. This film is a thriller and is all set to be remade in Hindi. Boney Kapoor bought the rights of this film in which his elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor will play the lead. The film hasn't gone on floors yet. Boney Kapoor is currently busy with a south Indian movie.

Kaithi: Starring Karthi in the lead role, this film was released in Tamil and Telugu languages just like many other Tamil films. It is a crime drama which is all about a prisoner who is released after spending 9 years in jail and is on his way to see his daughter for the first time ever. A lot happens in this journey towards his daughter and he gets involved in a crime again. Ajay Devgn is playing the lead role in the Hindi remake.

Ratsasan: Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh are said to be playing the lead roles in the Hindi remake of this Tamil blockbuster film which has Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul in lead roles. This film was remade in Telugu as well. It was directed by Ramesh Varma. He is going to direct the Hindi version as well. The film went on floors recently.

Jersey: The Hindi remake of Jersey has been making headlines for a long time now. The Telugu version of `Jersey' has Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles and the Hindi remake has Shahid Kapoor and Mrinal Thakur in the lead. Gowtam Tinnanuri, who directed the original, is also directing the remake. The makers recently announced that the film will hit the screens during Christmas this year.

Chatrapathi: Prabhas has become a bankable star with his performance in `Chatrapathi'. The movie was directed by SS Rajamouli. The Hindi remake of the flick has Telugu actor Sreenivas Bellamkonda in the lead role and is directed by VV Vinayak. This flick marks Sreenivas's Bollywood debut.

Ayyappanum Koshiyum: This Malayalam movie was remade in Telugu. Now, it is being remade in Hindi. Expectations are high on it. Director Jagan Shakti will be directing this flick and John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor will be playing the lead.
