Priyanka Chopra returns to Hyderabad for Rajamouli–Mahesh Babu film project

Hyderabad: After celebrating the festive season with her family, global actor and producer Priyanka Chopra is back to work. The ‘Desi Girl’ has flown to Hyderabad to begin work on her much-anticipated project with filmmaker SS Rajamouli and Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu.

Priyanka shares glimpses from Hyderabad

Taking to Instagram Stories, Priyanka shared a short video showing the streets of Hyderabad, tagging Mahesh Babu in the clip. Earlier, she had posted a photo from her flight with the caption, “And we’re off again… destination exciting (sic),” followed by a video of her plane landing at the airport.

The project, tentatively titled ‘SSMB29’, marks Priyanka’s first collaboration with both SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu, drawing widespread anticipation from fans across industries.

Rajamouli hints at a grand November reveal

Back in August, for Mahesh Babu’s birthday, SS Rajamouli shared an update about the film’s progress. Posting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the RRR director wrote, “Dear Cinema Lovers in India and around the world, as well as fans of Mahesh, It has been a while since we began shooting, and we appreciate your eagerness to know about the film. However, the story and scope of this film are so vast that I feel mere pictures or press conferences cannot do it justice (sic).”

He further added, “We are currently working on something to showcase the essence, depth, and immersive world we are creating. This will be unveiled in November 2025, and we are trying to make it a NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN reveal. Thank you all for your patience.”

Mahesh Babu’s action-centric role

Sources close to the production have indicated that Mahesh Babu will be performing all his stunts in the film without using a body double. The actor is reportedly undergoing extensive physical training for the role, which is said to involve high-intensity action sequences.

A highly anticipated collaboration

“SSMB29” has been in development for over a year and continues to generate significant buzz in the Indian film industry. With Rajamouli at the helm and a cast featuring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, expectations are high for the project’s global scale and storytelling depth.
