RRR postponed once again due to spike in COVID-19 cases

Hyderabad: Jr. NTR and Ram Charan's 'RRR', directed by SS Rajamouli, has been postponed yet again. The film was to hit the screens on 7 January but has now been pushed to a later date due to a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases.

The official announcement was made on 1 January. Following the sudden rise in cases, theatres in New Delhi have shut down while Tamil Nadu has announced 50 per cent occupancy. In Andhra Pradesh, too, there is an ongoing debate on movie ticket prices. Amidst all this, the filmmakers have decided that postponing the film's release is the best thing for now.

The makers of 'RRR' tweeted, "Keeping the best interests of all the parties involved in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love. #RRRPostponed #RRRMovie (sic)."

The filmmakers said, "In spite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promised to bring back The Glory of Indian Cinema, and at the right time, WE WILL."

This news, that too on new year's day, is such a disappointment to the fans as the release was just a week away.
