Mumbai: Five days after actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an intruder at his home here, the actor was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old has been advised to take complete bed rest for a week and asked not to receive visitors to prevent any infection. For his discharge procedure, a heavy security force was deployed at the hospital as his fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor.
The actor, who suffered multiple stab injuries in the attack in the early hours of January 16 underwent emergency surgery at the hospital. He was rushed to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw late Wednesday night.

Khan had three injuries, two on the hand and one on the right side of the neck, and the major part was along the back, which was in the spine. Doctors removed the sharp object lodged in the spine and repaired the injury. He recovered well and was shifted from the intensive care unit (ICU) on January 17 to a special room.
Who is the person who attacked Saif Ali Khan?
Police arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammed Rohilla Amin Fakir for allegedly breaking into the actor’s home and attacking him.
The police said that Fakir is a Bangladeshi national who illegally entered India in August last year and was living under the false name Bijoy Das. He had stayed in Kolkata for a while where he obtained identity documents as an Indian, opened a bank account and also bought a SIM card using another name. He then came to Mumbai and stayed at Worli Koliwada.
Here’s how it happened on the night of the attack
The police said the accused entered the bedroom of Khan’s younger son Jeh after climbing several floors via the ducts around 1:45 am on Wednesday.
Kareena Kapoor Khan had just got back home 10 minutes earlier. The couple was still awake when the children’s nurse Eliyamma Philips spotted Shariful in the room and raised an alarm.
The CCTV cameras of the building captured him at 2:37 am as he descended the staircase. It was this picture that provided the first clue to the police about the possible identity of the intruder.
