Samantha's Shaakuntalam gets release date

Hyderabad: After being postponed a couple of times, Samantha Ruth Prabhu's 'Shaakunthalam' finally has a release date. It will hit the screens on 17 February 2023 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film will also release in 3D so that audiences can experience director Gunasekhar's visual magic. The makers will soon kickstart the promotions for the film.

Written and directed by Gunasekhar, the film marks Malayalam actor Dev Mohan's Tollywood debut. It will also have Allu Arha is a key role along with Sachin Khedekar, Mohan Babu, and Gautami. The talented Gunashekar, who is known for making films with stunning visuals and big budgets, is coming to the big screen with the romantic saga 'Shaakuntalam' after a long time. Starring Samantha in the titular role, Dev Mohan will play Dushyant in the film.

Produced by Neelima Guna and presented by ace producer Dil Raju, the film is currently in the post-production stage. The much-awaited 'Shaakuntalam' is based on Kalidasa's Sanskrit play 'Abhijnana Shakuntalam'.

Prakash Raj, Aditi Balan, and Ananya Nagalla will be seen in pivotal roles in the film that is being bankrolled by Gunaa Teamworks in collaboration with Sri Venkateswara Creations. Melody Brahma Manisharma is scoring the music for the film. Recently, the film's re-recording was done in Budapest, Hungary with the Symphony Orchestra of Hungary. This will be one of the major highlights of the film. Sai Madhav Burra has penned the dialogues for the film while Sekhar V. Joseph is the cinematographer and Prawin Pudi is the editor.

Samantha is currently recovering from Myositis. Once she recovers, she will resume shooting for her upcoming film 'Kushi' with Vijay Deverakonda. The film is directed by Shiva Nirvana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
