From Shaakuntalam to Ponniyin Selvan 2: Here are April’s theatrical releases

Hyderabad: A bunch of interesting films is going to hit the screens this month. From small-budget movies to star-studded ones, action entertainers to mythological dramas, movies of different genres are ready for release. Let’s take a look at films releasing this month.

Ravi Teja starrer ‘Ravanasura,’ directed by Sudhir Varma, will release on 7 April. The promotional content released by the directors and producers in the past few days has already increased audiences’ expectations. Hero Kiran Abbavaram’s ‘Meter’ is also going to hit the screens on the same day and is going to clash with Ravi Teja at the box office. ‘Meter’ is produced by Mythri Movie Makers.

Fans of Samantha have been waiting for ‘Shaaakuntalam’ for some time now. The mythological drama is going to release on 14 April. Directed by Gunasekhar, the film stars Samantha, Dev Mohan, Mohan Babu, Gowthami, Sachin Khedekar, and others in lead roles. Produced with a budget of around Rs. 80 crores, the film is the first female-centric film that has been made with such a huge budget. Raghava Lawrence’s ‘Rudhrudu’ will also release on the same day.

Sai Dharam Tej’s fans are waiting for ‘Virupaksha.’ The story of the film is written by Sukumar and so, expectations are huge for this thriller which has Samyuktha Menon as the leading lady. The film will hit the screens on 21 April. Bellamkonda Ganesh starrer ‘Nenu Student Sir’ and Gargeyi starrer ‘Hello Meera’ are also releasing on the same day.

At the end of the month, Mani Ratnam's directorial ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ will also release. The multi-starrer mythological drama will release on 28 April. The same day, Akhil Akkineni and Mammootty’s ‘Agent’ will release. ‘Agent’ is directed by Surender Reddy.
