Stop piracy: Telangana govt forms special panel to stop illegal recording, distribution of Telugu films

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to form a special committee under the aegis of the Film Development Corporation (FDC) to curb rampant piracy in the film industry. The committee will include representatives from the Film Chamber of Commerce Cyber Cell and the Police Department.

Meetings with deputy CM

FDC Chairman and film producer Dil Raju, addressing a press conference at the FDC board room in Masab Tank here, said that several meetings have already been held with the deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on the instructions of chief minister A Revanth Reddy to resolve key issues faced by the industry.

A comprehensive action plan on the anvil

ā€œA comprehensive action plan is being formulated, and if necessary, new regulations will be introduced to ensure effective anti-piracy measures,ā€ Dil Raju said. He emphasised that the FDC will act as the nodal agency for implementing these measures and overseeing the online permission system for film shootings.

Government committed to industry welfare

The deputy CM reiterated the government’s commitment to the growth and welfare of the film industry and called upon all stakeholders to work collectively to strengthen the sector.

Accreditation for film journalists under review

FDC Managing Director Ch Priyanka, who was also present, said that the issue of accreditation for film journalists will be reviewed and a decision will be taken soon based on feasibility. She assured that all concerns brought to their notice by stakeholders will be addressed with sincerity and urgency.
