Hyderabad: India pacer Mohammed Siraj unveiled the autobiography of legendary wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani.

`Stumped: Life Behind and Beyond The Twenty-Two Yards’ was launched in a ceremony that brought together some of Indian cricket’s finest names.

The launch event, held in Hyderabad, was attended by former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath, ex-India captain Mohammed Azharuddin, Telangana Minister for Labour Vivek Venkat Swamy, and other dignitaries.

Siraj credits Kirmani as a Role Model

Calling Kirmani a “true inspiration” for young cricketers, Siraj said the 1983 World Cup hero’s career had motivated him and his generation.

“Sir, when you won the 1983 World Cup, we were not even born. I have heard from many players about your extraordinary reflexes behind the stumps. Thank you for everything you have done for Indian cricket,” Siraj said.

Kirmani lauds Siraj’s Passion and Aggression

Kirmani, known for his sharp glove work and composure, returned the praise, commending Siraj’s spirited performances.

“You have brought glory to the country with your exuberance and that aggressiveness from the heart. My congratulations and best wishes for your future,” he said, highlighting Siraj’s display in the recent Test series against England.

Azharuddin: ‘One of the Finest Ever’

Former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin fondly recalled Kirmani’s camaraderie and influence on the game. “It’s important that he launched the book in Hyderabad as well. Kirmani will continue to guide wicketkeepers and cricketers in the future. I urge young wicketkeepers to go to ‘Kiri bhai’; he is one of the finest the world has ever produced,” Azharuddin said.

Minister reiterates State’s Sports Push

Telangana Minister for Labour Vivek Venkat Swamy emphasised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s commitment to promoting sports in the state. Although the chief minister was scheduled to launch the book, he was unable to attend due to pressing engagements.
