Suresh Babu drops plans to remake Malayalam film Neru in Telugu
Concerned about the story’s potential limited appeal among Telugu audiences, he opted to forego the remake project

However, after witnessing the compelling narrative of the courtroom drama, which revolves around a visually impaired victim of assault, he decided to alter his plans. Concerned about the story’s potential limited appeal among Telugu audiences, he opted to forego the remake project.
Suresh Babu has previously tasted immense success with Telugu remakes of Malayalam hits, notably with the adaptation of Mohan Lal and Jeetu Joseph’s Drishyam, starring his brother Venkatesh. The film garnered substantial box office returns and was followed by a successful sequel. Having found success in adapting Malayalam films previously, Suresh Babu remains on the lookout for compelling scripts to remake with Venkatesh, leveraging the popularity and proven track record of the original films.
Despite initially considering Neru for a potential remake, Suresh Babu’s decision underscores his commitment to selecting projects with broad audience appeal. He continues to monitor the success of Tamil and Malayalam films, recognising their potential to offer fresh and engaging narratives for Telugu audiences amidst the scarcity of impactful scripts in the industry.
