Telugu film Muthayya wins Best Indian Film Award at Kolkata International Film Festival
The upcoming Telugu independent film made a big splash at the prestigious 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) and bagged the Hiralal Sen Memorial Award for Best Feature Film in the āCompetition on the Indian Language Filmsā category.

Though many Telugu films were flops at the box office, those that emerged as blockbuster hits made it to international film festivals.
'Muthayya' is one such film. The upcoming Telugu independent film made a big splash at the prestigious 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) and bagged the Hiralal Sen Memorial Award for Best Feature Film in the "Competition on the Indian Language Films" category.
Directed by Bhaskhar Maurya, the film has been produced by Kedar Selgamsetty and Vamsi Karumanchi under Hylife Entertainments Pvt. Ltd. banner and Vrinda Prasad under Fictionary Entertainment banner.
Sharing her experience after winning the award at KIFF, producer Vrinda Prasad said, "I'm at a loss for words after winning the Best Feature Film award. I can't remember the last time a Telugu film won top honours at KIFF and we are proud to represent Telugu film industry this year. Our film premiered to a packed audience at KIFF, and we received thunderous applause at the end of the screening."
She added, "I'm grateful to Kedar and Vamsi of Hylife Entertainments for their support, and director Bhaskhar Maurya and cinematographer Divakar Mani, along with the whole cast and crew, for their commendable work."
Incidentally, 'Muthayya' had its official India premiere at the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival which is organised by the West Bengal Film Centre under the West Bengal government. Nearly 190 films from 42 countries were screened at the festival this year.
In the past few months, 'Muthayya' has been selected for several film festivals across the world, including UK Asian Film Festival, META Film Fest, Indic Film Utsav, South Asian Film Festival of Montreal, Ischia Global Fest, India Film Festival of Alberta, Third Action Film Festival, and Cinemaking International Film Festival.
Prior to winning the top honours at Kolkata International Film Festival, 'Muthayya' had won the Best Feature Film Jury Award at the 3rd Indic Film Utsav and Best Debut Director Award at META Film Festival in Dubai.
