Thalaivi trailer launch: When `unabashed' Kangana Ranaut broke into tears

The trailer of Thalaivi was released on the 34th birthday of Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday. Directed by AL Vijay, `Thalaivi' is a biopic of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa. Kangana essays the role of Jayalalithaa in the movie.
At a press meet held, the actress, along with actor Arvind Swami, who played MGR in this film, unveiled the trailer.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Kangana said she feels blessed to have been part of this film, playing the role of the woman who has been an inspiration to many out there.
"He never made me feel bad or apologetic about my talent. It's very rare for a director to share such a respectful camaraderie with female actors," she said as tears welled up in her eyes.
Actor Arvind Swami, who essays the role of MGR in Thalaivi, said portraying the late film icon and Tamil Nadu chief minister was a responsibility.
"I'm playing the role of a man who I cherished watching on screen since I was a kid. So it was more of a responsibility and not a job," he said.
Madhubala, Samuthirakani, Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, and Bhagyashree, among others, are playing key roles in the movie which is set to hit the screens on April 23.
