Thalapathy67: Digital & satellite rights of Leo sold for a whopping price

Hyderabad: If there’s a movie that Tamil movie buffs are eagerly waiting for, then it is the recently-announced Thalapathy67 which is being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Titled ‘Leo,’ the film is slated for release on 19 October.

Post-theatrical business for this multi-starrer film has begun already. In fact, the deals have been closed already. The makers recently announced that Netflix will be its digital partner. 7 Screen Studio, the banner producing Thalapathy67, tweeted, “Tudum, Our gang has a new member, and that is Netflix India, our official digital partner of Thalapathy67.”

The OTT giant bought the rights for Rs. 120 crores and the satellite rights have been bought by Sun TV for Rs. 80 crores while the audio rights were bought by Sony for Rs. 16 crores. The overseas rights have not been sold as of now, say industry insiders. This means Thalapathy67 has made a cool Rs. 216 crores even before its release!

After nearly 14 years, Trisha Krishnan will reunite with Vijay in ‘Leo.’ The two were last seen together in ‘Kuruvi’ (2008). The character posters for the eight actors who have been cast in the supporting roles were also released.

The film stars Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Myskinn, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Anand, and others in key roles.
